MUFY Sharity Carnival 2017 (28/9/17)

After Organisational Communication lecture, I was about to make my way to the college boulevard. I saw Farah Ann was talking to one of the students. I walked up to her to have a small chat with her. "You were one of the athletes I wanted to meet when I first stepped into college two years ago," I said. "Really?" she asked. I nodded my head. "Well, your dream finally came true! I gotta go, Katelyn. You're a lovely person," Farah said giving me one big hug before she headed off.

I saw some my juniors were trying to sell the coupons but I was carrying my bag, it was hard for me to take my purse out since I'm walking with the elbow crutches. I headed to the ice cream stall to get my vanilla ice cream- I had two of them and a cup of coke to help cool off the heat. I walked around the boulevard to see the yummy food and drinks which were on sale.

I bought three packs of waffles and one plate of Terrenganu's famous fish ball satae. I even got a free treat from rojak from James, who is the team leader of the stall. There were some students came by to promote their products especially foods and drinks.

They even had two lucky draws- for the first one, if you wanna get a total amount of RM 2500, you gotta get two "7". Unfortunately, I got 4 and 9 so I didn't win anything but I did get a cuddly koala bear plush, even though it's the prize of the lucky draw. The other one was the normal lucky draw- your name got picked out randomly and you get the prize.

The time was getting late, most of the stalls were packing up to call it a day but some of them were doing their best to attract the customers. Hui Yee and Wang Nan came to the boulevard to promote their Nerf gun game which was held at the third floor of the college's South Building. Soon after, we decided to call it a day when the last customer bought the last package of rojak.

I helped out by cleaning up the table. Ms. Haslina dropped by for a bit to check on the progress. "You even got a new volunteer to help out," she was referring to me, the alumnus of MUFY! Not long after, my primary school friend, Colleen was trying to sell out her nugget celup. James was such a gentleman, "For the lady," he said. Wow, a treat from the juniors. I'll treat them next time around!

When the time was about 3.45pm, it's time to head back to the university building for the last lecture of the day. I cuddled the koala which I got earlier during the carnival. I'm happy that the MUFY Sharity Carnival is getting bigger every year, as a alumnus I'm proud to support my juniors and it's so good to be back at the carnival. It triggered the good old days of my time studying the pre-U course back then.

Hope to see you guys next year at MUFY Sharity Carnival 2018!

MUFY Sharity Carnival 2016 (1/9/16)

It's the time of the year again- the yearly MUFY Sharity Carnival is on full swing! All classes are reduced to half an hour to ensure all the students to get involved with the event. It's my second year joining the event. I used to think that the carnival was big, in the end I found out it was quite small yet fun! Most games are held at the second floor of the South Building. The food and drinks are all at the Energy Hub.  This time is a bigger event! In conjunction with Australia Week, all the Australian academic programmes in the college- AUSMAT, MUFY and VU Business School come together to educate the students on Australia.

Before the big day, we had a pre sale a week before. It was held at the new location, third floor (South Building). They sold handicrafts and pies. After Globalisation class, my friends and I go to the Energy Hub to check out the yummy foods and drinks. As planned, Joni, Othy and I meet up every Thursday. My homie, Hui Qing, sent me a picture of her stall through WhatsApp. I manage to catch up with her. Before leaving, I said "Hui Qing, could you please reserve some brownies and choclate biscuits for me?" Hui Qing said: "Yes, I'll keep some for you!" I thank her.

Joni, Othy and I go to the foyer a always. Well, gotta do a little bit of course work before you can have fun right? Tomorrow, I'm having a bio topic test so gotta do all the preparations. Although, it does not include in the internal marks, still test on our biological knowledge. At 10am, the three of us head for our respective classes. I'm five minutes late so just left 25 minutes before class ends. At 10.30am, Hui Yee and I head to the Hub for some fun. I buy ice cream, brownies and biscuits as well as coke.

Since Hui Yee is helping at the carnival, she accompanies me for about 10 minutes, it's worth it! It's just me sitting at the old cafeteria, listening to the music. I also bump into my batch mate, Ammelin. The two of us went for another round of "window shopping" at the carnival, I try some tasty food along the way. All thanks to my juniors, Hui Qing and Ryan, who are so kind to let me try some food samples. It's so yummy! Around 11.55am, Ammelin and I left the carnival and head to the library. I kinda stop in my tracks when sign reads All You Need to know About Australia.

The booth is organised by the VU Business School students. They have a game to test your knowledge on how well you know about the Down Under. I manage to get three right. Especially the last one when the question about which two mammals only lay eggs. "What is it?" one of the students asks. "The echidina and the platypus," I answer. "Wow, you're the first one to get it right!" she said. She asks how do I know the answer.  "I watch this Pet Collective YouTube series called Growing Up with Bindi & Robert Irwin," I said.

The rest of the day just chilling at my favourite place on campus- the library! Crikey, what a great day!

MUFY Sharity Carnival 2015 (3/9/15)

It's been a month since my secondary alma mater- St. David's High School held a carnival and now Sunway College had one as well! We called it MUFY Sharity Carnival. The word Sharity is the combination of the word share and charity. This marked my first ever carnival in college. Clad in dark blue Sunway College t-shirt and a pair of grey jeans with a pair of blue Vans shoes, I made my way to the first class which was Globalization.

At 9.30am, I informed my English teacher, Ms. Felicia that our usual English classroom will be used as the Haunted Class for the carnival. "Thank you for informing me, Kar Marn," First, Fariz and I hang out for awhile until 10.00am because he wanted to meet up with his friends. Hui Yin and I waited for our next class in 30 minutes. Ru Tian came along so we took some pictures to kill our time. At 10.30am, we went class SW2-2 for English.

At 11.00am, it was time for us to head down to the Energy HUb to have some fun! All classes were reduced to half an hour because they wanted us MUFY students to join in the fun! Especially semester one students who are in the July and August intakes.

"Hi, sorry I'm late!" I said. "No, no it's okay! You're just in time! Come and join my friends," Athira said as she led Ru Tian and I to a place. After settling my stuff down, Ru Tian and I went to the first stall to buy our food so I bought noodles. After having a few mouthfuls, I was totally stuffed! Athira and I just walked around while Ru Tian helped her Physics teacher at a stall where they sold jellies.

After buying some stuffs, we went back to our place and stretched our tired legs. Athira and I tried the jelly which I bought earlier and it was really good! It looked reddish colour on the outside but when you scooped it up it is green. Hui Yin dropped by for awhile then she rushed to the library because she had some work to do. So just left Ru Tian and I. We walked around the stalls, looking for some food and souvenirs which will fit our budget, I mean the coupons.

A Hena stall attracted a lot of people and the queue was super long. Ru Tian decided to try so I said "I'll wait for you at the Student Service Department," I said. "Okay," she said. After waiting for 25 minutes, I got bored so I went out just to have another look around. Suddenly, I saw a familiar person. It's my senior, Shu Yie! "Hey Shu Yie !" I said. "Oh hey Kate! Wanna hang out with us?" he asked. I nodded my head and said "Yes!"

We went back to SSD to get my stuff and the rest of the day I spent time with my seniors- from both high school and college. Suddenly, the deejay said "Please enjoy our national anthem, the Negaraku. Someone wanted this song to be played," As the national anthem was played, everyone stood up and sang. When the song ended, everyone cheered.

Around 3pm, under a watchful eye of Shu Yie, he escorted me to the car. My uncle picked me up and headed home. The best day of my life! My first carnival in college would be a memorable one.
