Senior Year 2014 (31/10/14)

On 31st October 2014, it was Graduation Day for us Form Five students. It is time to close the chapter of our school life for the past ten years. Although my school didn't have a graduation ceremony like any other schools us students created a simple graduation of our own.

It was right after the second period of class, the Form Fives had a special privilege to have our recess early because later we will have a last-minute tip seminar which the school held for us.

During the 'special recess', all students were taking photos with each other, signing some autographs just to name a few. I took a lot of pictures with my best friends and teachers. But most of them were selfies with my friends of course!

Since my birthday is this weekend, I can say that the graduation I had was the best birthday present ever! Although, I received presents and a stalk a of white rose from my friends and juniors respectively, Graduation Day was the best among them all! I was really happy that my wish came true!

Throughout my five years in high school, it made me realise that true friends will stick together through thick and thin no matter how bad the situation is.

We shared the joy and laughter, also we shed tears and disappointment. Still, we encourage each other to move forward and achieve our dreams. I'm really happy that my senior year ends with a happy note.

I will cherish this moment forever! Thank you St. David's High School, Malacca  for giving me the songs that I lived through. Thank you to all my friends who supported throughout my schooling life!

Cause once a St. Davidian, always a St. Davidian.

I'm with the school captain of year 2013/2014

Malaysia Day 2014 (12/9/14)

Last Friday, St. David's High School Malacca celebrated Malaysia Day which will be falling on this Tuesday. At 7.30 am, students were gathered at the basketball court. Then, they were asked to line in two rows which made a big path way. I was really confused, why the teachers wanted the students to line in two rows?

As the music started to play, a Kadet Remaja boy cycled his way to the stage. We clapped and cheered as our very own young solider made his way to the stage. He was escorted by Akmal Hakim and Mohammad who were wearing the blue and pink baju Melayu respectively. They came up to the stage to distribute flags to the teachers. Then, they gave the principal a telengkok

The programme was proceeded with the stimulus History which was asked by our Encik Azman. The first question was asked to the Form Ones, "What is the theme for this year's Independence Day?" A Form One boy came up to the stage to answer the question "Malaysia, Di Sini Lahirnya Sebuah Cinta (Malaysia, here where love is born)," He was given a five ringgit cuppon.

For the past four years, I didn't involved in this activity. Lucky for me, I was seated near to the stage. Might as well, I give myself a shot as they always say "seize the opportunity when it comes." This year is my final year, so I got up from my seat and walked across the stage unfortunately another student stole the spotlight.

I walked back in disappointment, Luqman told me "Hey Kar Marn, do you want to answer the question ? If you want I can hold the microphone to you then you say the answer," I nodded "That's a splendid idea !" When En. Azman asked the next question "What are countries and state to join the formation of Malaysia ?"  I walked up to stage, proud teachers were smiling at me.

As Luqman held the microphone, I answered " The two countries are Singapore and Brunei while the other two states are Sabah and Sarawak ," Encik Azman said "Correct! Congratulations!" He gave me a five ringgit cuppon. I thanked Luqman for helping me out. The crowd chanted my name, "Kar Marn, you rock girl!" I was really happy all thanks to my junior.

The moment everyone was waiting for-the performance. We have singing dancing, poet reciting just to name a few. My favourite part of the performance was a dance performance which was performed by 4Sc1 (2014). They performed Tanggal 31 by the late Datuk Sudirman. The crowd went totally wild! After the performance, one of them gave me the pink hibiscus which they wore it earlier during the performance. And they won best performance in the upper secondary category.

The ceremony ended with four patriotic songs- Jalur Gemilang, Keranamu Malaysia, Warisan and this year's theme song , Di Sini Lahirnya Sebuah Cinta. It was best Malaysia Day celebration. Happy Malaysia Day to all Malaysians!
The boys of 4Sc1 performed Tanggal 31-Credits to Miss Daphne Bunga for photo taking.

Malaysia Turns 57

On 31st August 1957, Malaysia had gained its Independence. Our first Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman stood at the podium of Stadium Merdeka in front millions of Malaysians as well as British representatives and leaders, shouting the word "Merdeka" seven times. This year's theme for our Independence Day is Malaysia: Di Sini Lahir Sebuah Cinta (Malaysia: Here Where Love is Born). Before that, let's take a step back in time how Malaysia gained its Independence.

On February 1956, Tunku Abdul Rahman led leaders from various parties to London to have an agreement with the British to give Malaysia independence. The British gave Malaysia its Independence on 31st August 1957 which is 57 years ago today. Tunku declared the independence of our country at Bandar Hillir, Malacca. The whole nation was so excited that Malaysia is finally free from the British after many years of ruling.

Malaysia is a multiracial country where its people are called Malaysians live in harmony disregard of religion or background of one's individual. In majority, Malaysia has three races there are Malay, Chinese and Indian while in East Malaysia, they have Kadazandusun and Iban as well as orang asli. Besides that, Malaysia is also a multi festive country where Malaysians celebrate in harmony. These festivals are Hari Raya Puasa or Aidlifitri, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Christmas and the Harvest Festival just to name a few.

The Malaysian flag is the Jalur Gemilang or Stripes of Glory. It consists of four colours, which are red, white, blue and yellow. Each of these colours represents its own uniqueness. Red represents the bravery and courage. White represents purity while yellow represents the rulers of the country and finally blue represents unity in Malaysians. As we all know, the flag has 14 stripes, one crescent moon along side with the 14 pointed star with the blue background to finish the touch. Each stripe represents each state in Malaysia. For your information Malaysia has 13 states including its Federal Territory which adds to a total of 14 states.

Malaysia is rich in its Historical sites which became an attraction of tourists from all over the world. One of the popular historical sites is Malacca's Jonker Street which is also known as The World Heritage City. Furthermore, the Pearl of Orient also known as Penang has a variety of tourist attractions. There are the Kek Lok Shi Temple, the snake temple just to name a few. Another uniqueness about Malaysia is the sandy beaches such as Pulau Redang , Pulau Tioman, Pulau Langkawi, where tourists can have fun in the sun. What's more they can enjoy the five star hotel!

57 years had passed, Malaysians are living harmony as a big family. As the younger generation, we have to strive hard and achieve success no matter what comes in our way. Happy 57th Birthday Malaysia. Here where love is truly born. I'm proud to be Malaysian ! Merdeka !
