The C & S (Clubs & Societies) Carnival is back on the road to recruit to new members. I head down to the college boulevard as I'm performing for Sunway University Buddhist Society. I get to know at the last minute as I don't need the first three songs. Just the song that I pick, if we have still enough time, I might have a bonus song for everyone.
At 12.00pm, we head over to the stage for some sound checks for the microphone to make sure everything is in place. Yee Tang, the event director of the society says: "When you are done with your performances, promote our society, okay?" I give a thumbs up. The first two songs are Before Finding the Meaning of Life (在找到生命的意义以前) and Bhrama of My Heart.
It's my turn to take the stage, all eyes are on me when I take my place. I perform a song titled Forgive (原谅) along with sign language. I performed 10 years ago when I was in Year 5 at a teachers' day performance in primary school. 10 years later, I'm bringing it back the feeling. Turns out the students like the performance. As a bonus, I sing The Friends in Life (生命中的朋友). After the performance, I'm back to your ordinary university girl.
We also have a little game as well. It's called "What's in the Box". Don't worry, it's nothing scary! It's just soft toys and some stuff that we use in everyday life such as nail clipper, comb, stapler etc. That's the end of Day 1. It's off to Day 2 and final day of the first cycle of C & S Carnival 2018
Day 2 get a lot more interesting than yesterday's activities. In conjunction with their upcoming third annual Chinese Cultural Night, Sunway University Chinese Cultural Society (SUCCS) promote their event by inviting deejays from Astro's new Mandarin station- Go Xuan! to live up the atmosphere. There are performances as well from last year's SunVoice 2017 top 12 finalists.
I realise that I've been off duty for two hours! Oh no, I'm gonna be in hot water! I rush back to the college boulevard as fast as I can. Luckily, no students visit our booth so that is a sigh of relief! Phew!
I walk up and down along the boulevard just to get my blood circulate, "Kar Marn (袈文)!" I turn around to see my friend, Ming Han, who is from Sunway Chinese Independent School Alumni Club (CISA). He teaches me some new beats of the 24 season drums. Although we can't use the drums, we use the table instead. Some beats I get it right and some are wrong, but I can learn the new beat in no time as long as I practice constantly.

Malaysia National Model United Nations (30/3/18-1/4/18)
Malaysia National Model UN (MNMUN) 2018 was held at APU new campus. I was super excited because this was my first time participating an MUN as a delegate, also representing Sunway Model United Nations (SUNMUN). When we arrived at the venue, I signed myself up and got my name tag for my council. I was in the Cobbold Commission and I played the role of Tun Abdul Razak, the second Prime Minister of Malaysia but at this point he was the Deputy Prime Minister to Tunku Abdul Rahman, the Father of Independence of Malaysia.
As delegates took their seats at the auditorium, the opening ceremony of MNMUN begun. A short video was presented by the IT & Design department to show the councils and introducing our council chairs. When the Secretary Generals of the MNMUN declared the conference had officially begun, delegate started to make a beeline to their respective council and yet I was left out as always. Luckily the admins were here to help me out.
The conference started by going through a roll call. Unfortunately, my "boss" was not around so I took over the place for almost half of the council. I had nothing to say much because my "duty" was to "assist" Tunku Abdul Rahman in the formation of Malaysia. Well I did do some talking, as in "predicting" the future which eased the atmosphere.
On the second day, delegates arrived to continue their debating on their respective topics. We were still in the process of forming Malaysia. This time we were focusing on education. The second day ended with social night with performances of the 24 season drums by students of Taylor's International School, singing and dancing. In honour of the upcoming general election, our history knowledge was put to the test. The question was: When did Malaysia gain independence? That was easy! And I got a Starbucks card as a reward. The Social King and Queen of MNMUN went to Zack and Megan respectively.
On the third and final day, we just need to go to through some amendments before "officially" formed Malaysia. Alas, Malaysia was "officially formed! The national anthem- the Negaraku, was played to mark a new federation. That made me realised that forming a new nation was not easy, we had to go through a few negotiations before everyone agreed on the circumstances. Well, we ended a session early so I decided to drop by at the UN Security Council. Everyone was given a certificate of participation. I was super happy when I received mine.
Since the time of the closing ceremony was delayed, we were allowed to go to other councils. The UN Security Council had a mock press conference, I was interested to join in as I would experience a little later in the semester. We were given the green light to the auditorium to attend the closing ceremony. Future MUN Conferences and highlights of the three-day event were featured in a video. Awards were given out for best delegate, best position paper, most outstanding group delegate.
I'm looking forward to the next Model United Nations, who knows I might end up in the real UN!

Back to University: Heading to Year 2 (27/3/18)
The alarm rings, the moment I wake up I know a new journey is about to begin. Yes, I'm officially into Year 2 in BA (Hons) Communication, specialising in Corporate Communication. It's been raining cats and dogs lately, the fine weather kinda calm my nervousness while I'm on the road to Sunway University.
My first lecture of Year 2 is Law and Ethics in Communication. Law is not really my interest because we can be very "opinionated" at some point, so I tell myself that I'm never going to pursue law in my degree as a major. Well, I guess I'm wrong. No matter which course we are taking in our degree, there is a law subject as a minor. At least, we get to know the rules and regulations before we venture into the real world.
Turns out law subject isn't so bad after all! We'll learn more in detail when we go deeper into the semester. After the lecture, we have a four-hour break. What to do during a four-hour break? I have to settle my timetable, because everything was settled over the break except for Law and Ethics in Communication tutorial slot because there was a technical issue in the system. Lucky for me, luck is definitely on my side today as I manage to sign up the tutorial slot!
My classmate, Wai Teng, and I try to self enrolled our signed up subjects but it doesn't work out on either our smartphones or iPad, only one way to find out is to log on to the computer which are available in the library. Second luck I finally enrolled, it takes awhile to get use to the new elearn portal website.
Prior to Media Relations and Public Affairs lecture, the girls didn't know how to enroll the subjects. "We managed to enroll. Well, Kar Marn taught me how to enroll," Wai Teng pointing to me. "Really? Kar Marn, can you show me or write the steps on how to enroll?" Lavanya asks. I write the first five steps, the last step is not counted but I add a word "done" along with a smiley face. "You're a smart girl!" Lavanya says. "The smiley face is super cute! Should upload it to the batch's group chat," Chelsea adds.
What's up for Katelyn this time? Join in her musical journey as she steps into her second year of university where more music are waiting for her to compose and find her inner voice.

农历新年2018（16/2/18）
早上八时，闹钟在我耳边响起。多困多累，我还是要起身因为今天是大年初一，就是说已经来到人间啦！我赶紧起身，直接冲进洗手间免得一家人你推挤的情况下。我却被妈妈叫住：“文儿，过来吃早餐吧！” 久违的十五分钟，终于到我啦！
今年我幸运颜色是黄色和紫色，但是我的黄色旗袍太狭窄了，就换上一件紫色花的连身裙子。我当然走整家一圈，向全家人 “炫耀” 一下。他们看了都说：“哇，阿文！你的眼光不错！” 我心里有沾沾自喜的感觉。
今天是韩国平昌四年一次的冬奥会，而我们马来西亚也创下了历史—— 茹自杰，成了第一个的运动员代表马来西亚在冬奥会！我打开电视就是为自杰加油打气！他是男单花样滑冰的运动选手。在去年的东运会，他得了全场总冠军！虽然无缘晋级，但是已经尽力了！自杰，继续加油！
肚子开始打鼓，要吃什么呢？为了 “弥补” 我，外婆还吩咐小舅煎鸡蛋给我。看到了鸡蛋，我就垂涎三尺，外婆看到我的表情就说：“文儿，不用看到这样子！就知道看到你最喜爱的鸡蛋，一切都明了！” 我当时还吃了两个！
填饱肚子后，一年一度向长辈们敬茶的时间到！有一些小插曲就是在第三代—— 孙子们的环节，他们跟着父母的分级来敬茶，太传统了吧？不是以年龄来敬茶吗？往年都是这样啊！在七个表兄弟姐妹，我是排老二，非要跟着吗？我直接翻白眼！不过我被妈妈逮到，“文儿，大年初一别翻白眼！”
“文儿，来秀秀你的新年祝福语给外公外婆吧！” 舅舅他们说。好吧，让本小姐秀一下让你们目瞪口呆！秀完一连串的祝福语，外婆说：“还是我的文儿最厉害了！令我和你外公不负所望！” 外婆给我一个大红包！开心极了！三舅派我的红包时候，他说：“哪你的最特别的！” 红包封有可爱的狗狗脸，下面还写 “学业进步” 这四个字。双倍的兴奋！
新年怎么少不了全家福呢？我在此祝大家活出自己，快乐Whoopee！让我们在狗年，活出最真实的自己！

大团圆2018 （15/2/18）
一年一度的团圆饭来了！游子们都回到各自家乡一起过新年。我也不例外！在情人节当天，我早就回马六甲家乡了。还有，还有，当然少不了我亲手的挥春！有农历新年的气氛嘛！
家里都打扫干净，而我们青年一代的也没做什么，只是陪陪两个小表妹玩而已。不久，二舅一家和三舅回家了！我在客厅闲着看电视上播的新春节目。你们知道为什么我要霸电视吗？因为每一年我都会看陪我长大的MY Astro一年一度的新春除夕倒数活动。往年都会直播节目，可是今年他们已经录制了。还没贴我的春联，就问妈妈：“妈，怎么还没挂上呢？” 妈妈说：“待会儿就挂上。”
我还是要看，再说我已经把贺岁专辑的歌曲都背得滚瓜烂熟！“来，吃团圆饭了！” 我最期待是有春卷、烧肉还有最喜欢的鸡蛋！可是瞧一下，咦，为什么我菜单没摆在桌上啊？我辛辛苦苦写的菜单都没看一眼？还说会加进团圆饭？似乎有一些小插曲，外婆看到状况就说：“文，这是你舅舅他们喜欢吃的菜肴。你的就明天摆放。” 什么？！明天？！
我可是在农历新年的前两个月都已把菜单些好了！还敢跟我说明天？！于是我马上离开了团圆饭，气鼓鼓坐在客厅的长凳。大舅经过我身边时候就问：“阿文，她怎么了？” 外婆就无奈地说：“她见到只是煮到你们的菜肴，没煮她最爱的，就这样发脾气咯！”
小插曲不只是在团圆饭而已，还有他们还挡着我的视线看新春倒数活动。没吃团圆饭的我，肚子又饿在加上身体有一些不适，自然而然情绪会有点爆燥。我忍无可忍就发大脾气，全家人看了都傻一眼。“阿文，你怎么可以在新春除夕晚发脾气呢？” 妈妈说。最终能够填饱我的肚子就是面包和一杯牛奶。
我又把视线移回到电视上的新春倒数活动。 看了新春活动，心情会较好点。在电视上的艺人也唱一首首的经典MY Astro新年主打歌曲。我通通都会唱！不愧外婆说我有很好的记忆性。即使有十一年了，《大团圆》还是牢牢记住在脑海里。
虽然今年的团圆饭出了些小插曲，希望明天大年初一，情绪会较好点。

Sunway University CNY Celebration 2018: Tuan Yuan Fun (8/2/18)

一年一度的校园新春活动回来了！还剩下一个星期就是农历新年了！今天我没有上课，但是我不能错过新春开幕典礼！大约早上十一时三十分，我往大学的路程出发。心里藏不住万分般的兴奋和期待！
到了大学的大门口，朋友们已经在等我。他们是谁呢？没错，就是在上星期的双威大学佛学会一日营的佛友们！我下车的那一刻，Cheese赞叹道：“哇，袈文！你的裙子很美啊！” 我说声 ”谢谢” 。在等待其他朋友的到来，我们刚好可以见证新春开幕典礼。校方各个的 “大人物” 已经到现场了。
开幕典礼由巴生兴华独中校友的舞狮队助兴。为了和舞狮近距离接触，我站靠近舞台。金狮们采青的时候，橙子 “飞到” 我的鞋子了，我也被吓了一跳！顾问老师关切地问我：“你没事吧？” 我摇了摇头说：“老师，我没事儿！”

舞狮表演结束，我们几乎人到齐了就步行到学校附近的Subway餐厅，来做个大团圆！除了回家乡之外的课题，还有聊到新年会做什么活动。“我通常会邀请中学朋友们来一年一度的团拜，有时我们会到其他同学们的家拜年。” 下午一时四十五分，我们步行回校园。在上楼梯的时候，大学的吉祥物—— Samson the Sun Bear，伸出援手把我扶一把。我向William和凯杨哥道别后，就在大学大厅自由活动。经过一个书法展，还可以亲自挥春。不如挥一个春联吧！回马六甲家乡当天可以把我的作品 ”展览” 在大门口，客人来的时候会感受到新年的气氛。我还不忘到许愿池，希望新一年可以达到自己的目标，更多冒险还在等我去探险。
双威大学独中校友联谊会歌唱团为大家献上一串烧熟悉的Astro新年主打歌曲，还有他们的自创的主题曲—— 《团圆》。我也到游戏摊子尝试很多的传统新年游戏，仿佛回到童年的时代。最有挑战的是 “除旧迎新” 就是把红绿豆里，至少把八颗的绿豆取出。好难哦！最终还是把它们取出。
傍晚时刻，佛学会在忙着筹备第一届的佛曲音乐剧。当我们在讨论着，突然间有简讯。Christine问我在哪儿，迅速回复她：“我马上到。” 哎呀，差点失约呢！晚上的精彩表演有双威大学的拉拉队和舞蹈学会的。还有什么呢? 当然是Astro星势力的Gerladine颜慧萍和William陈建宏的演出啦！
当我在录William哥的演出，Christine把我移到靠近舞台的位置。唱完第二首——《Perfect》，William哥 说：“有请我的师姐—— Geraldine颜慧萍！” 全场学生欢呼Geraldine姐的到来。新秀师姐弟为大家献唱轻快版的《活出自己快乐Whoopee》。Geraldine姐说仿佛回到她的大学青春时期。她献唱《一个人的冒险》和《这样的知己》，我通通都会唱！
他们表演结束后，我到 “后台” 和他们合照。William哥露出关切的眼神说：“Katelyn，以后要小心点。别摔倒！还有，谢谢你的小礼物。” Geraldine姐和William哥问我在就什么科系，我说：“BA (Hons) Communication。” 他们赞叹道：“不错！继续加油哦！” 非常开心和两位团聚在大学！新年愿望实现啦！
虽然今年的Astro新春嘉年华没像往年在马六甲家乡举行，但是能够和他们一起在大学提早过新年，我已经很满足！我提早祝大家新年快乐！学业进步！梦想大大哒！

SBS Day Camp 双威大学佛学会一日营2018 (3/2/18)
续上个一日营，我觉得超好玩！期待下个一日营。如今这是我第二次参与，这一次是双威大学佛学会举办的一日营！我也第一次身为一日营的负责人，当然有一些紧张。我们把桌子搬到走廊，参与者就把名字输入进电脑里。
当我在整理学生们的资料时，马来西亚法鼓山青年团已经来到了。“南无阿弥陀佛！请问你们有一位叫璟芳施主吗？” 我说有，Joevie姐刚好出来，我问：“璟芳呢？” Joevie姐说：“袈文，怎么啦？” 我说法鼓山青年团已经到了。大约早上八时十五分是时候我们理事会进去了，待会所有学生在场，一日营正式开始！我们双手合十来迎接法师们。
法师们为我们揭开佛法的了解。“不要忘记你们的初心。你们来参与这个音乐剧理事会团是为了什么？” 法师问在坐的佛友们，而这道问题我也心里问自己：“我当这个音乐剧理事会秘书是为了什么？” 哪接下来这几个月，答案自有分晓。
我们有三个 “心”，到底是什么心呢？分别是专心、学习心和初心。而这些三个心到底含着什么意义呢？专心，做任何事情都要专注，不要让身边的人事物受到任何的影响。例如：我们捧一碗满的水，尽量不要把水滴出来或倒翻。一路上，我们会遇到一些 “障碍” ，我们是否克服它们呢？
学习心，无论我们多厉害，还是要保持一颗学习心因为我们每天接触到不同的东西，说不定一路上我们会学习到某件事？我们在课堂里，每一天我们学习新的课程。就算我们即将从大学毕业，学习不会在哪儿停止。我们踏进社会，也要学习工作上的事物。
初心，这是最重要的一颗心。为什么会被列为最重要的一颗心呢？因为没有初心，哪我们没有方向，也不知道我们做每件事的意义。为什么我们会要到大学升学？为什么要参加校园的课外活动？答案非常简单：我们的初心。有初心，我们就会有一颗学习心和专心来做任何事啦！
你以为吃午餐会那么容易吗？可不是！学生们要围一个大圆圈，手腕邦着麻绳，就要看大家的配合。幸好我坐在椅子就不用和大家挤在一块！哈哈！大家都填饱肚子后，下个环节开始啦！到底这一次璟芳为我们安排什么活动呢？就是排练一个十五分钟的剧组演出！我的队伍得到了 “爱情” 为主题。
“爱情” 为剧组的主题，真是很大的挑战啊！“你们想想看。” 我灵机一动就说：“不如就演出爱情校园故事吧！” Cheese附和：“师姐，这注意不错嘛！为什么你会想到要演出爱情校园故事？” 每个人在中学都有自己暗恋的人，但是他也是有时候默默地在关注你。我们采用Danny哥哥和Geraldine姐姐的《恋爱的感觉》还有加油男孩（TFBOYS）的《宠爱》当该剧的曲子。我们还是得到全场最佳出色的剧组！
好久没见的菩提工作坊哥哥姐姐给大家唱歌啦！最喜欢的歌曲是生命中朋友的《微笑》。后来大家围一个大圆圈。无轮未来面对任何状况，我们此刻都要手连手，心连心来克服挑战。最后一个环节就是大家对此的一日营有任何的看法、分享我们的感想。
第一届双威大学佛学一日营圆满落幕！感谢每位佛友的出席！让我们未来的四个月一起成长、学习。大家都是一致，不分你我。

我们有三个 “心”，到底是什么心呢？分别是专心、学习心和初心。而这些三个心到底含着什么意义呢？专心，做任何事情都要专注，不要让身边的人事物受到任何的影响。例如：我们捧一碗满的水，尽量不要把水滴出来或倒翻。一路上，我们会遇到一些 “障碍” ，我们是否克服它们呢？
学习心，无论我们多厉害，还是要保持一颗学习心因为我们每天接触到不同的东西，说不定一路上我们会学习到某件事？我们在课堂里，每一天我们学习新的课程。就算我们即将从大学毕业，学习不会在哪儿停止。我们踏进社会，也要学习工作上的事物。
初心，这是最重要的一颗心。为什么会被列为最重要的一颗心呢？因为没有初心，哪我们没有方向，也不知道我们做每件事的意义。为什么我们会要到大学升学？为什么要参加校园的课外活动？答案非常简单：我们的初心。有初心，我们就会有一颗学习心和专心来做任何事啦！
你以为吃午餐会那么容易吗？可不是！学生们要围一个大圆圈，手腕邦着麻绳，就要看大家的配合。幸好我坐在椅子就不用和大家挤在一块！哈哈！大家都填饱肚子后，下个环节开始啦！到底这一次璟芳为我们安排什么活动呢？就是排练一个十五分钟的剧组演出！我的队伍得到了 “爱情” 为主题。
“爱情” 为剧组的主题，真是很大的挑战啊！“你们想想看。” 我灵机一动就说：“不如就演出爱情校园故事吧！” Cheese附和：“师姐，这注意不错嘛！为什么你会想到要演出爱情校园故事？” 每个人在中学都有自己暗恋的人，但是他也是有时候默默地在关注你。我们采用Danny哥哥和Geraldine姐姐的《恋爱的感觉》还有加油男孩（TFBOYS）的《宠爱》当该剧的曲子。我们还是得到全场最佳出色的剧组！
好久没见的菩提工作坊哥哥姐姐给大家唱歌啦！最喜欢的歌曲是生命中朋友的《微笑》。后来大家围一个大圆圈。无轮未来面对任何状况，我们此刻都要手连手，心连心来克服挑战。最后一个环节就是大家对此的一日营有任何的看法、分享我们的感想。
第一届双威大学佛学一日营圆满落幕！感谢每位佛友的出席！让我们未来的四个月一起成长、学习。大家都是一致，不分你我。
