Malaysia Day 2014 (12/9/14)

Last Friday, St. David's High School Malacca celebrated Malaysia Day which will be falling on this Tuesday. At 7.30 am, students were gathered at the basketball court. Then, they were asked to line in two rows which made a big path way. I was really confused, why the teachers wanted the students to line in two rows?

As the music started to play, a Kadet Remaja boy cycled his way to the stage. We clapped and cheered as our very own young solider made his way to the stage. He was escorted by Akmal Hakim and Mohammad who were wearing the blue and pink baju Melayu respectively. They came up to the stage to distribute flags to the teachers. Then, they gave the principal a telengkok

The programme was proceeded with the stimulus History which was asked by our Encik Azman. The first question was asked to the Form Ones, "What is the theme for this year's Independence Day?" A Form One boy came up to the stage to answer the question "Malaysia, Di Sini Lahirnya Sebuah Cinta (Malaysia, here where love is born)," He was given a five ringgit cuppon.

For the past four years, I didn't involved in this activity. Lucky for me, I was seated near to the stage. Might as well, I give myself a shot as they always say "seize the opportunity when it comes." This year is my final year, so I got up from my seat and walked across the stage unfortunately another student stole the spotlight.

I walked back in disappointment, Luqman told me "Hey Kar Marn, do you want to answer the question ? If you want I can hold the microphone to you then you say the answer," I nodded "That's a splendid idea !" When En. Azman asked the next question "What are countries and state to join the formation of Malaysia ?"  I walked up to stage, proud teachers were smiling at me.

As Luqman held the microphone, I answered " The two countries are Singapore and Brunei while the other two states are Sabah and Sarawak ," Encik Azman said "Correct! Congratulations!" He gave me a five ringgit cuppon. I thanked Luqman for helping me out. The crowd chanted my name, "Kar Marn, you rock girl!" I was really happy all thanks to my junior.

The moment everyone was waiting for-the performance. We have singing dancing, poet reciting just to name a few. My favourite part of the performance was a dance performance which was performed by 4Sc1 (2014). They performed Tanggal 31 by the late Datuk Sudirman. The crowd went totally wild! After the performance, one of them gave me the pink hibiscus which they wore it earlier during the performance. And they won best performance in the upper secondary category.

The ceremony ended with four patriotic songs- Jalur Gemilang, Keranamu Malaysia, Warisan and this year's theme song , Di Sini Lahirnya Sebuah Cinta. It was best Malaysia Day celebration. Happy Malaysia Day to all Malaysians!
The boys of 4Sc1 performed Tanggal 31-Credits to Miss Daphne Bunga for photo taking.
